UAE

Which mode to choose for freight the UAE

Air freight — 3–7 days

How the route runs: Dubai → Sharjah

Dubai is the region’s largest air hub, with daily flights to Tashkent. Much of what moves through it is bought from suppliers in third countries: the goods arrive in Dubai by sea, are consolidated there and fly on as a single consignment.

Air from the UAE brings electronics and gadgets, perfume and cosmetics, watches and jewellery, spare parts, branded clothing — goods with a high price per kilo, for which Dubai works as a trading hub.

What to watch on this lane

  • Dubai is a re-export hub: the goods are usually of Chinese or European origin, and the certificate must name the country of manufacture, not the UAE.
  • Perfume and aerosols fly as dangerous goods — a safety data sheet and specific packing are required.
  • High-value small goods need an exact invoice description: understating the value ends in an additional assessment at customs.
  • Flights are frequent, so transit here is among the shortest — the bottleneck is usually the paperwork, not the carriage.

Road freight — 7–20 days

How the route runs: Bandar Abbas → Iran → Turkmenistan

A truck from the Emirates does not run direct: the cargo is ferried to Bandar Abbas in Iran and taken on through Iran and Turkmenistan. It is cheaper than air and markedly faster than the full sea chain, so it suits bulky cargo that is not urgent.

By road from the UAE come consignments that do not need air speed: mid-range appliances and electronics, car parts, retail goods, medium-sized equipment.

What to watch on this lane

  • There is no land corridor out of the Emirates: cargo goes by sea to Bandar Abbas and onward by road through Iran and Turkmenistan.
  • The Iranian and Turkmen sections need transit permits — the schedule depends on those more than on distance.
  • Transhipment at the port adds an operation: the packing must survive not only the road but the handling.
  • Transit times on this lane vary more widely than on direct routes: allow slack if the date matters.

Sea and container freight — 30–50 days

How the route runs: Jebel Ali → Bandar Abbas

Jebel Ali is the region’s largest port and the main consolidation point: goods arrive here from across Asia and are made up into consignments. Onward to Uzbekistan it is overland only — through the Iranian ports and Turkmenistan, since we have no coast.

By sea from the UAE come large consignments: containerised equipment, building and finishing materials, polymers, furniture, machinery — where unit price matters more than speed.

What to watch on this lane

  • Jebel Ali is one of the largest ports in the region and sailings are regular; but the sea leg ends at Bandar Abbas and the rest is overland.
  • The total time is the sea leg plus transhipment plus a road section through two countries — count by routing, not by vessel schedule.
  • Container demurrage at the port is billed separately: the documents must be ready in advance.
  • Re-export origin has to be evidenced with the manufacturer’s documents, or there is no duty preference.

We collect cargo from: Dubai, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah.

Cargo shipping from the UAE or official import?

“Cargo” here means shipping by weight without a declaration: cheaper at the border, but the goods cannot go on your balance sheet, the VAT cannot be reclaimed and nothing can be sold under a contract. For a commercial consignment work out the full cost rather than the per-kilo rate: on an official import the duty and VAT are visible from the start, with grey shipping they surface later — as a fine, or as goods you cannot sell legally. We ship officially only: declaration, invoice, contract.

Frequently asked questions

How does grey cargo differ from your shipping?

Grey cargo moves by weight without a declaration — cheaper at the border, but the goods cannot go on your balance sheet, the VAT cannot be reclaimed and nothing can be sold under a contract. We ship officially: declaration, duty, VAT, invoice. For a commercial consignment compare the full cost, not the per-kilo rate — at volume the official route often works out cheaper.

Which modes do you use from UAE?

Air freight, Road freight, Sea and container freight. We price the options and show the trade-off in cost and time.

How much does shipping from UAE cost?

The rate depends on weight, volume, cargo type and season. Send us the parameters and we will come back with a quote.

What documents are required?

Invoice, packing list, contract and the transport document — on this lane that means an air waybill, a CMR, a bill of lading. We advise the full list for your specific cargo.

Do you handle customs clearance?

Yes, for cargo we carry ourselves: one company answers for both the transport and the customs, under one contract for the whole route. Cargo on this lane enters through Dubai, Sharjah, Bandar Abbas and runs to the warehouse under customs transit. We do not take on customs clearance separately from carriage.
