There are two roads from Turkey and they are not equivalent. Through Iran and Turkmenistan is shorter and cheaper but depends on Iranian transit. Through Georgia, Azerbaijan and the Caspian ferry is dearer and involves waiting for a sailing at Baku, but avoids Iran. The route is chosen per consignment, not once and for all.

What to watch on this lane

The route through Iran needs transit permits and depends on when they are issued; the Caspian ferry leg adds loading and unloading and ties the schedule to sailings.
Textiles travel hanging or in cartons — that decides both the volume and the price, so confirm the packing method before the quote.
Turkish goods often need a certificate of conformity; food equipment and tableware add a sanitary clearance.
During the Turkish holiday season, late July into August, factories close and dispatches slip by weeks.
